Graham Packaging Company is looking for a Packaging Specialist based in Cartersville, GA. This opening is for either a second or night shift. Packaging Specialists are responsible for general housekeeping of the production area, case making, inspecting, and packing of finished product in accordance with established procedures, specifications and other guidelines. The primary duties of a Packaging Specialist include: - Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices. - Understands, follows and enforces all established policies, procedures and recognized practices. - Participate in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned. - Visually inspect finished product for defects before packing to ensure quality. - Follow written packing instructions. - Notify supervisor or lead of potential problems with finished product and/or machinery. - Grind bottles as necessary, checking for contamination before grinding - Open and inspect bundles of corrugated material and check for proper printing and defects. - Stack case/dividers on carts and feed individual cases and dividers into case forming machine. - Use case making equipment in a safe manner. - Notify the appropriate coworker or assignee when supplies at the machine need to be replenished. - Communicate with incoming shift or line replacement on any problems with quality, machine, and packing configurations. - Assist with rework and heldware to ensure effective completion. - Assist in the training of regular and temporary workforce in stacking, packing quality, and case machines. - Keep work area and other facilities clean, orderly and safe. - Complete written documentation as required. - Limited travel may be required

Summary Graham Packaging is seeking a dynamic and multidisciplinary Continuous Improvement Manager to optimize plant systems, production line and equipment performance, and product quality. The Continuous Improvement Manager will be skilled in assessing and diagnosing the root causes of problems that lead to defective products, production yield loss and reduced productive uptime. The Continuous Improvement Manager will work with plants to develop and manage A3 projects to systematically address the Pareto of improvement opportunities using Lean tools and the Graham Operational Excellence (OPEX) continuous improvement process. The Continuous Improvement Manager will be knowledgeable in the fundamentals of lean manufacturing including reduction of variability, waste elimination, and theory of constraints to drive continuous improvement. The position, regionally based, has CI responsibility for the Graham network of plants.  Each CI has a focus area such as Rapid Change-Over, DOE / FMEA & 8D Complex Problem Solving, Graham Operating System – CI Element, Yield & Materials Kaizen, and Intelligent Factory.

The Plant Engineer is responsible for performing technical and project engineering duties to improve plant manufacturing performance, reduce costs, improve methods, and assist in machine maintenance and reliability. Focus includes building and grounds maintenance, environmental responsibility, and strong support of electrical control systems and PLC processes. The primary job rotations of a Plant Engineer may include: - Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices. - Prepares appropriation request for funding documents & manages those projects to completion - Reviews contractor bids; interviews and assigns personnel to specific phases and elements of the project.  Through project coordination meetings and other forms of communication, oversees and coordinates the technical aspects of the project - Prepares status reports and regularly monitors budgets, contractors and schedules.  Allocates project resources appropriately; approves expenditures; employee contractor contracts.  Keeps an accurate record and electronic data base of all elements of the projects - Presents procedures, rules and regulations to those involved in the project; maintains a safe, clean and productive environment through enforcing procedures.  Maintains project integrity and reputation through compliance with state and federal regulations - Originate and implement purchase order process, including vendor setup and SAP data entry and necessary reports - Assist with continuous improvement programs (i.e. cycle improvement, light-weighting, downtime reduction) - Uses A3 problem solving process to resolve issues at their source - Work with other BU Team Members to develop standards and best practices to accomplish improved bottle quality and increase operating window for manufacturing processes - Prepares appropriation request for funding documents & manages those projects to completion - Audits production equipment for variances to standards - Plant trainer for all high level activities surrounding the production equipment - Acts as the lead for all new products and processes executed at the plant - Support gathering collective knowledge to develop and maintain reaction plans - Interfacing with operators, team leaders, and supervisors for productivity support - Soliciting employee feedback and involvement to improve the equipment - Ensuring the necessary knowledge owner inputs are solicited for process involvement and problem solving activities including: technical resources, production resources, and quality department resources - Lead kaizen events, problem solving, and autonomous maintenance activities - Respond appropriately to help chain calls - Lead cross-functional (and cross-plant, when necessary) teams to implement process-related problem solving initiatives within the plant - Lead investigation of key complaints and drive to true root cause and sustainable corrective actions - Network with colleagues across business units and functions to leverage their expertise and experience in driving rapid problem resolution - Drive operational excellence implementation using the proper tools (lean, TPM, six sigma) at the plant level  - Provide analytical support to continuously identify gaps, project opportunities, and solutions - Identify opportunities to integrate continuous improvement into the day to day operations of the site - Share best practices with other plants and teams, and drive “read-across” benefits - Support goal of total employee involvement in continuous improvement activities through training and customer complaint resolution - Responsible for development and execution of Plant Computerized Preventive Maintenance Program - Responsible for development and implementation of Plant Predictive Maintenance Programs not limited to:  Vibration, Oil Analysis, Ultrasonic and Infa Red Inspection - Limited travel may be required.

This opening is for first shift, which operates during the hours of 6:48a - 3:00 p.  This position could be required to work an offshift (either second, third or nights) as needed.   Maintenance Electricians are responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of systems using electrical, mechanical and processing skills. The Maintenance Electrician will perform preventative and reactive maintenance on all production equipment and building. The primary duties of a Maintenance Electrician include: - Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices. - Understands, follows and enforces all established policies, procedures and recognized practices. - Focus on producing quality product by monitoring quality levels and adjust the manufacturing processes to ensure product integrity. - Reads and interprets drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations. - Installs, examines, replaces or repairs electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, fibre-optic and coaxial cable assemblies, lighting fixtures and/or other electrical components. - Tests electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance. - Maintains, repairs, installs and tests switchgear, transformers, switchboard meters, regulators and reactors. - Maintains, repairs, tests and installs electrical motors, generators, alternators, industrial storage batteries and hydraulic and pneumatic electrical control systems. - Troubleshoots, maintains and repairs industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and other related devices. - Conducts preventive maintenance programs and keeps accurate maintenance records. - May install, maintain and calibrate industrial instrumentation and related devices as required. - Assist and train production employees in proper operation and maintenance of machinery. - Limited travel may be required.

Responsible for knowing and enforcing policies, procedures, practices and programs. The primary duties of a Production/Shift Lead include: - Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices. - Assign shift personnel to production equipment, following shift work schedule and break schedules to ensure work is completed on time. - Train employees on a shift. - Participate in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned. - Oversee safety, security, good housekeeping and enforce company policies to eliminate accidents and control accident costs. - Resolve production and quality problems that occur on a shift.  Make frequent checks of product quality and GMP standards and give functional guidance to shift operations and quality personnel. - Complete written documentation as required. - Attend all production, safety, and shift meetings. - Assist Production Manager in reviewing shift operations and make recommendations relative to changes in organization, personnel, equipment and procedures. - Follow work orders and ensures proper product codes are used and built. - Accurately report production data. - Troubleshoot and make necessary adjustments to machinery and equipment. - Inspect materials prior to use. - 0-25% travel may be required.

Maintenance Technician Leads are responsible for leading and coordinates activities of vendors and workers engaged in repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment; and in maintenance of buildings, grounds, and utility systems of mill, industrial plant, or other establishment s. The primary duties of a Maintenance Technician Lead include: - Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices. - Understands, follows and enforces all established policies, procedures and recognized practices. - Report to and inform the Maintenance Manager of project status, training status and requirements as well as material requirements. - Direct and assign the day-to-day workload of the Maintenance Technicians. - Participate in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned. - Review production, quality control and maintenance reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities. - Plan, develop and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve operations, minimize operating costs and affect greater utilization of labor and materials. - Assist the Maintenance Manager with workload and project planning. - Maintain project, maintenance and repair parts and supplies inventories. - Originate and implement purchase order process, including vendor setup and EMIS data entry and necessary reports. - Coordinate outside vendors to perform scheduled maintenance and repairs in specialized areas and review performance for quality and cost effectiveness. - Perform all duties and responsibilities of a Maintenance Technician. - Train new Maintenance Technicians and coordinate ongoing training of existing staff. - Manage and operate the Maintenance/Inventory/PM Software Program. - Fill in for Maintenance Manager when necessary. - Assist in the coordination of projects with engineering, machine shop and shift supervisors. - Complete written documentation as required. - Assist with on call duties after hours and weekends.
