Overview

The Continuous Improvement Specialist is responsible for identifying, analyzing, and improving existing business processes to enhance quality, reduce costs, and increase efficiency. This role involves leading and facilitating continuous improvement initiatives across various departments to drive organizational success.

Responsibilities

  • Assure a safe working environment for all employees targeting a zero accident incident rate
  • The Continuous Improvement Specialist is responsible for identifying and implementing process improvement, increasing efficiency, reducing waste, and optimizing production processes to drive manufacturing excellence
  • The Continuous Improvement Specialist will work with site cross-functional teams and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement and develop strategies for implementing sustainable solutions using lean manufacturing methodology
  • Utilize continuous improvement strategies, tools, and techniques to optimize manufacturing processes and increase efficiency
  • Identify site improvement opportunities based on potential impact and return on investment
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to ensure continuous improvement initiatives are aligned, and sustained with business goals and objectives
  • Data collection for scrap and defect cause with shop floor and quality operators
  • Site level training, coaching and support for continuous improvement tools and applications
  • Regularly monitor the implementation of solutions to achieve objectives and expected benefits and report on the progress of improvement initiatives and their impact on business performance.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret data to identify trends and patterns and use data-driven insights to support decision-making and measure the impact of improvement initiatives.
  • Provide training and coaching to employees on continuous improvement methodologies and tools.
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the effectiveness of process improvements.
  • Collaborate with various departments to understand their needs and challenges.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to gain buy-in and support for improvement initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting best practices and encouraging employee involvement.

Qualifications

Proficiency in Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen and other continuous improvement tools and techniques.

  1. Demonstrate strong leadership skills and ability to influence others.
  2. Strong analytical and problem solving skills and the ability to interpret data and develop countermeasures to solve problems using data to drive decision-making.
  3. Ability to manage projects from start to finish, including planning, executing, and monitoring progress.
  4. Knowledge of project management software and methodologies.
  5. Bachelor’s Degree or higher in engineering, industrial science, business, or another relevant field with an emphasis on manufacturing highly preferred.
  6. Plastics experience a plus.
  7. Six sigma green belt, A3 or continuous improvement equivalent certification or above preferred.
  8. Demonstrate computer proficiency with various software packages.
  9. 1-5 years’ experience in a Plant Operations, Engineering, or Continuous Improvement role or related capacity

Compensation Statement

The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
