Overview

Graham Packaging Company is looking for a Maintenance Technician I based in Tolleson, AZ. This opening is for day shift, which operates during the hours of 6:30am - 6:30pm.

 

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and rebuilds on all blow molds and related tooling. This role supports safe, efficient, and reliable production operations by ensuring mold readiness, assisting with preventative maintenance (PM) activities, and maintaining accurate documentation. The technician will also support production in mold changeovers and assist the maintenance team as needed.

  • Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices.
  • Understands, follows and enforces all established policies, procedures and recognized practices.
  • Focus on producing quality product by monitoring quality levels and adjust the manufacturing processes to ensure product integrity.
  • Maintain controls for assuring successful plant performance to budgeted goals.
  • Perform highly diversified duties to install and maintain production machines and the plant facility’s equipment.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of production equipment during operation and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and plant facilities.
  • Perform mechanic skills including, but not limited to, mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair of production machines.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
  • Perform simple machinist skills.
  • Use a variety of hand and power tools, electric meters and material handling equipment in performing duties.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective material and report those and any unusual situations to proper supervision.
  • Assist and train production employees in proper operation and maintenance of machinery
  • Limited travel may be required

Responsibilities

Mold & Tooling Maintenance

  • Perform maintenance, cleaning, repairs, and rebuilds on all blow molds.
  • Identify and diagnose mold-related issues; send molds out for external repair when required.
  • Maintain and update the Blow Mold Tooling Logbook to track mold usage, life cycles, and rebuilds.
  • Rebuild lane dividers on aerators and other associated components.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary.

Preventative Maintenance & Equipment Support

  • Assist in performing preventative maintenance on blow molding equipment and related systems.
  • Ensure all PM documentation is accurate, timely, and complete.
  • Perform equipment repairs as needed to support continuous operations.
  • Cover vacations or absences for maintenance shift mechanics or PM team members.

Production Support

  • Assist production teams with Sidel blow mold changeouts, ensuring safe, efficient transitions.
  • Maintain proper and adequate spare parts inventory for mold shop needs.
  • Organize storage racks, maintain shop organization, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety rules, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by adhering to company policies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2–5 years of blow mold training and practical experience.

Technical Skills

  • Welding experience required.
  • Hands-on experience with lathe, mill, and grinder equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and knowledge of standard tools and equipment.

Competencies

  • Strong communication skills with internal and external partners.
  • Ability to work safely, independently, and with attention to detail.
  • Strong documentation and organizational abilities.

Compensation Statement

The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
