Overview

The Accounts Payable Supervisor will oversee the accounts payable team directing the processing of invoices and payments.

Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ensures correct payments are made in a timely manner.
  • Develops guidelines for proper handling and coding of invoices to maintain general ledger expense and balance sheet accounts.
  • Analyzes invoices for accuracy and eligibility for payment.
  • Verifies payments by reviewing checks, wires, ach payments and vouchers.
  • Transmits ACH, AP Credit Card payments, and Positive Pay files to the bank
  • Ensures proper recordkeeping of purchases for use in tax preparation and periodic audits.
  • Ensures employer identification numbers or social security numbers have been collected from all vendors for preparation and submission of annual 1099s.
  • Manages the Purchasing Card program including accruals, file uploads, and the issuance and cancelation of cards
  • Ensures proper maintenance, filing, and storage of records in case of audits.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Interviews prospective employees and chooses the best applicant based on skills, knowledge, and abilities required for the job.
  • Trains and oversees employees involved in accounts payable functions.
  • Directs assigned tasks and provides assistance as needed.
  • Assists with performance evaluations.

Qualifications

 Core Proficiencies and Skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite or related software, SAP experience is a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of accounts payable functions.
  • Strong understanding of Vendor Master data
  • History of executing process improvements, specific to Invoice to Pay cycle
  • Excellent supervisory and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to motivate staff.

 

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration, with one year of experience in an accounting office; OR three or four years of accounting experience

   

Compensation Statement

The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
