Overview

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Shift Leads oversee production lines during an entire shift of operation, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, practices, and programs. This role serves as a backup to the Production Supervisor, stepping in as needed to maintain operational continuity.

Responsibilities

The primary duties of a Shift Lead include:

  • Understands, follows and enforces all established safety, health, quality GMP and Company policies, procedures and recognized practices.
  • Assign shift personnel to production equipment, following shift work schedule and break schedules to ensure work is completed on time.
  • Responsible for the following shift functions; personnel training, development, safety, security, quality, inventory, good housekeeping, and general management of Company policies and procedures.
  • Participate in continuous quality improvement projects and other related activities as assigned.
  • Oversee safety, security, good housekeeping and enforce company policies to eliminate accidents and control accident costs.
  • Resolve production and quality problems that occur on a shift. Make frequent checks of product quality and GMP standards and give functional guidance to shift operations and quality personnel.
  • Accountable for providing shift documentation on decisions, shift issues, actions and status updates for the shift for the purpose of compliance and continuous quality improvement (CQI).
  • Complete written documentation as required.
  • Attend and/or conduct all production, safety, and shift meetings.
  • Assist Production Supervisor in reviewing shift operations and make recommendations relative to changes in organization, personnel, equipment and procedures.
  • Follow work orders and ensures proper product codes are used and built.
  • Accurately report production data.
  • Maintain a supportive and productive work atmosphere through professional conduct and effective communication with internal and external customers, including vendors, coworkers, subordinates, and other supervisors.
  • Participates in job safety training and personally follows all plant rules and work procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment is developed and supported.
  • Troubleshoot and make necessary adjustments to machinery and equipment.
  • Inspect materials prior to use.
  • Must be willing to backfill Supervisor position
  • Must be able to perform all production and maintenance positions.

Qualifications

Education/Work Experience - A High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution is required. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an operations supervisory or management role in a manufacturing environment with demonstrated leadership skills strongly preferred.

Compensation Statement

The expected salary range for the position described in this posting is made in accordance with the legal mandates of certain jurisdictions within the United States. The final agreed-upon compensation is based on individual qualifications and experience.
